• To raise funds to strengthen the priorities of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne’s (EPFL) development policy in line with its threefold mission of education, research and innovation.
• In particular, to support the EPFL in obtaining funding for:
  • Supporting original initiatives for students and entrepreneurs from EPFL, such as entrepreneurial or interdisciplinary projects.
  • Creating new teaching and research chairs in particularly promising fields by attracting the world’s best specialists to EPFL.
  • Building new infrastructure that is vital to the development of the campus.
• Accelerating the implementation of strategic projects, by offering donors a wide range of philanthropic opportunities in areas of strategic societal importance such as education, health, sustainability and humanitarian aid.
• The ambassadors, who are the external members of the Foundation Board, promote EPFL within their respective networks and support the fundraising effort by opening doors for EPFL.
• The ambassadors advise EPFL by identifying relevant fundraising opportunities in relation to EPFL’s priority themes and strategic initiatives.

• The Foundation promotes academic excellence, scientific integrity, respect and transparency.
• The Foundation acts in accordance with the values and principles of EPFL.
• The Foundation and EPFL complement each other in a spirit of partnership and common purpose.
• The Foundation can count on the collaboration and pooling of resources and skills available within EPFL.
• The Foundation ensures that its scope of activities respects the independence and academic freedom of EPFL.$
• The Foundation ensures that donations are put to good use and that the projects supported are successful. The origin of the funds is trustworthy.
• The Foundation plays a key role in the intelligent and responsible transition of society.

The members of the EPFL Representative Council ensure that they take responsibility for respecting the Foundation’s missions and values.
