The Foundation EPFL Plus, based in Ecublens, was founded on 21 December 2004. Its purpose is to raise funds, either unrestricted or earmarked, to support the EPFL’s policy priorities in the fulfilment of its threefold mission in education, research and innovation. The principle of academic freedom prevailing at EPFL must be guaranteed in all cases. The Ethics Charter defines the principles according to which the Foundation accepts donations or solicits funds from third parties. It is intended to facilitate decision-making in the choice of collaboration with companies and private sector foundations for the funding of its programmes and activities.

The EPFL Plus Foundation is registered with the Office Cantonal du Registre du Commerce. It is recognised as being in the public interest and is therefore tax-exempt.
